For now, the focus is on major non- or not-for-profit organizations with a national or international scope. Ananda was founded in 1968 by J. Donald Walters (Swami Kriyananda) a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. Although not affiliated with Yogananda's Self-realization Fellowship, the focus is on Yogananda's Kriya yoga.

Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organisation
As a worldwide family of individuals from all walks of life, the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization offers an education in human, moral and spiritual values. To meet the challenge of change, it initiates dialogue and presents a fresh vision of the future. It recognizes the intrinsic goodness of all human beings and teaches meditation to help each one rediscover their inner resources and strengths. Himalayan Institute
Founded by Swami Rami, the Himalayan Institute offers yoga, meditation, stress reduction, biofeedback, ayuevedic and other health related programs at its headquarters in Honesdale, Pa., and branches in New York City and Glenview, Ill. Integral Yoga/Satchidananda
Satchidananda Ashram/Yogaville is a spiritual based on the principles of Integral Yoga as taught by Sri Swami Satchidananda . International Association of Yoga Therapists

International Yoga Teachers Association
Established 33 years ago (in 1967) in Sydney, Australia, the International Yoga Teachers Association has members, representatives or established branches in 29 countries around the world. International Yoga Conferences are held approximately every three years in different countries around the world. Iyengar Yoga
B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States is committed to the dissemination and promotion of the art, science, and philosophy of yoga according to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar and his family. Site includes a directory of Iyengar yoga teachers and regional associations.

Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health is a spiritual retreat and program center serving people of all backgrounds for more than 20 years. Kripalu was founded on the yogic philosophy that physical health is the foundation of mental and spiritual development. Founded by Yogi Bhajan in 1969, the 3HO Foundation revolves around the simple belief that to be healthy, happy and holy is the essence of a fulfilled life. The focus is on kundalini yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, who is credited with bringing kundalini teaching to the West. Sahaja Yoga
Developed by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970, Sahaja Yoga is a meditation-based system focusing on the effortless and spontaneous awakening of Kundalini and self realization. The organization has operations in more than 70 countries, including the U.S. Its programs are free.

Sivananada Center, founded by Swami Vishnu-devananda, a disciple of Swami Sivananda from Rishikesh, India, is one of the largest yoga organizations in the world. The center offers yoga and teacher training programs at nearly 80 locations around the world

Self-Realization Fellowship
Self Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda, Autobiography of a Yogi is considered a classic in the field and was instrumental in opening the West to yoga. White Lotus
The White Lotus Foundation's mountain retreat center overlooks the city of Santa Barbara, the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands. Yoga Alliance
The Yoga Alliance is a voluntary alliance of diverse yoga organizations and individual yoga teachers that seeks to uphold the integrity of yoga, establish voluntary national standards for yoga teachers, and provide support for yoga professionals in the United States. The Yoga Group
The Yoga Group is a Colorado non-profit organization providing free Yoga classes and information since 1988 to persons living with HIV/AIDS, and helping other Yoga teachers start similar programs. It offers programs in cities in the U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K.

Yoga Inside Foundation
A private non-profit organization, Yoga Inside Foundation brings yoga to incarcerated youth and adults in juvenile halls and probation camps, and to mental institutions, women's and children's shelters, homes for runaway youth, senior citizen homes, drug rehabilitation centers, as well as community settings where isolation and economic deprivation make yoga unavailable. Operating in the Los Angeles county area, the group's basic philosophy is that learning and practicing yoga - the physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation - can help those in institutions and disadvantaged communities to find freedom on the inside while learning to better deal with the many issues and challenges they face moment to moment. Yoga Research and Education Center
Yoga Research and Education Center (YREC) was established by noted author and researcher Georg Feuerstein in 1996 to conduct and promote textual, historical, and comparative research on Yoga, and to promote and serve as a clearinghouse for medical, psychological, and other scientific data on Yoga. The site contains over 100 articles, and YREC also publishes the tri-annual Yoga Studies newsletter and the annual International Journal of Yoga Therapy.
